It was 2 weeks before AutoSalon 2006. A customer comes in and asks us for a huge favor. He needs a body transformation quick smart for the competition. So without wasting time we get stuck into the job.
The Car: Nissan Pulsar N15 Series 2
The Job at hand:
We began with the easiest job. Stripping the car.
Finding every dent, scratch and damaged area, grinding back and straightening. Also the customer wanted to weld up the boot lid were the license plate usually sits. So off i went and gave the boot lid a crack.
Working on the boot lid for a couple of days getting the right angles, sizes, bends we finally welded on a perfect sheet onto the hole.
We ground back all the welds to a smooth finish and then spread fiberglass and body filler over the entire surface. It took a couple of hours to do but once it became perfectly level and smooth the results were visible automatically.
So the boot was all ready for undercoating. But there is still more to do before that. What we had to do now is prepare the bonnet scoop. This was made and fitted at Jetspeed. What we had to do was make sure it was smooth. We had to sand back and apply body filler until nice smooth surface appeared.
When we finished that it was time to start on the body kit. What the customer wanted was a twin exhaust system installed. However since the rear bar was completely flat we had to cut out arch ways to fit these twin exhaust tips. So we measured up and off we went.
Holes are cut out, now we sand down the rest of the body kit and fill any gaps and cracks till smooth.
With the eye lids we had to apply body filler also since they where a little uneven.
Sand the rest of the car back and tape up the car to be ready for painting. Also our customer wanted to have his read tower lights painted in a unique way, so following his directions we taped up these lights.
Since the owner wanted to paint the car White with blue pearl through it, we painted using PROTEC paints, and the finished product was so stunning we became shocked at how good it looked.
After it dried, we then pulled all the paper off and began to put the car back together. Once every single part was put together we still had 3 days to go until autosalon started. So the customer took it out and did what else he had to do to the car eg: install exhaust, re-trim interior and most important cleaning his car.
